I remember watching this really crappy movie when I was a kid called Moontrap starring Bruce Campbell and Chekov from Star Trek. Despite its low-budget crappiness, it had a cool concept about alien beings being able to construct themselves out of spare parts, both mechanical and biological. So you had these big robots with human flesh dripping off of its gears. So I stole that concept and made this.
I have an obsession with giant killer robots of all types so I threw in some nods to my favorites. There's alot of the Cain monster from Robocop 2, with the gatlin gun arms and chicken legs. A little of ED-209 in the feet and dome-shaped head. I tried to add an industrial look to mimic the APU's from the Matrix Revolutions. And a smidgeon of the Iron Giant in the hips. There are some details that I wanted to add, but couldn't fit them in without the image looking too busy, namely two additional arms that come out of the back and a chainsaw that comes out of... a special place.
Once again, this is a somewhat insignificant character from a graphic novel that I will never put together. Hopefully I will get some actual pages up one day.
Very cool! It would look better coloured in. Nice tribute piece, the first thing I thought of when I saw it was Moontrap. I liked Moontrap, it's one of those films that are bad, but fun to watch.
this is cool, it has clean lines and a good concept, only one prob (well from my point of view anyway) its too clean, it doesnt have any grime, blood or grease anywhere, from you idea is sounds like it would have dragged it self together from any thing it found so make it look like it did
the details are stunning!
